The Association of Textile and Apparel Management: a fitting Dreams to Reality partner
In the fall of 2008, University of Missouri student organization, the Association of Textile and Apparel Management (ATAM) members partnered with Dreams to Reality. Students helped rotate clothing for winter last fall, and on March 7th of this year they rotated the clothing once again for spring. According to Marianne Jones, “the students’ help was very valuable as they once again carried winter clothing to upstairs storage and summer clothing to our display downstairs. They’ve helped at our November “Dream Night” function in the Hollywood and Vine Vintage Shop booths, as well. They were completely self-directed from designing the booth to displaying the clothing items.” The MU Textile and Apparel Management students have also adopted Dreams to Reality in their sewing courses. Their first sewing projects for this semester were size large Scrubs. They have become an invaluable partner for Dreams to Reality. In turn, the students get real “hands-on” experience in apparel management. More importantly, they probably enjoy creating clothing displays for us.

Dreams to Reality Receives United Way Membership and Grant
Dreams to Reality happily announce our acceptance as a member agency with United Way and the recipient of a $5,000 grant. According to Faye Zumwalt, “This has the potential to ensure the future viability of Dreams to Reality far into the future.”
United Way provides grants and membership opportunities to local agencies and programs providing services in Central Missouri.
Dreams to Reality relies mainly on donations so this grant money will go to the greatest need – even operational costs.
We are proud to have served over 400 women and thanks to United Way, we will be able to serve many more to come.
“When we are dreaming alone it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality. “
